Dr Edwin finds the Lutronic Spectra XT Pigmentation Laser is more ideal for freckles, lentigines and sun spots while the Norseld Pro-Yellow Laser is more effective in treating melasma.
The eCO2 laser is recommended for removal of bumps like Sebhorrhoeic Keratoses (painless brown growths).

This non-invasive treatment utilizes advanced laser technology to target melanin (pigments) in the cells. Illustrated in the picture below, these pigmentation are shattered into smaller pieces which are then cleared by the body’s natural removal process - resulting in improvement of pigmentation.
In addition to reducing pigments, the Spectra Laser also brightens skin and treats uneven skin tone. Skin tone and colour is determined by the number of pigment cells. By reducing the number of pigment cells through laser, the skin will enjoy a brightening effect and lighter tone.
Patients can expect a very mild ant-bite like sensation during the laser. The cold air blower will be used concurrently to reduce discomfort and skin redness. Overall, the laser is comfortable and definitely not classified as painful!
The treatment duration is approximately 15 minutes and there is no downtime for the Spectra 1064nm laser. Some patients may experienced mild redness lasting 4 to 6 hours. We recommend applying the intensive recovery cream for optimal results.
Dr Edwin may recommend the stronger "burn off" spectra 660nm laser for stubborn pigmentation. However, there will be scabbing and hence downtime of between 3 to 7 days after the treatment.
