V-Shaped Face Treatment
Procedures For V-Shaped Face
To achieve a nice V-Shaped Face, Dr Edwin recommends these 2 procedures.
- Jaw Reduction / Face Slimming with Neurotoxins
- Chin Fillers
What is Neurotoxin Jaw Reduction / Face Slimming?
Influenced by Korean pop culture and celebrities, many Asians are keen to pursue a V shape visage or a less squarish face.
As such, Neurotoxin Jaw Reduction / Face Slimming has become one of the most popular Aesthetic Treatments for people interested in a more defined jaw line and slimmer face.
Due to google search restrictions, we are limited to using the word Neurotoxin. Dr Edwin prefers to use the original neurotoxin from Allergan starting with B.
The procedure is known by many other names – Neurotoxin Sqaure Face Slimming, Neurotoxin V Face and Neurotoxin Masseter Reduction.
How is it done?
Neurotoxins are injected into the Masseter muscle which is responsible for chewing.
By injecting Neurotoxins into specific areas of the Masseter, the muscle is relaxed and weakened.
Over the course of 1 month, the muscle size is gradually reduced leading to a slimming effect of the face.
Results are better seen in people with large Masseter muscles or those who frequently grind their teeth (Bruxism).
Icepacks are first applied to numb the area and reduce risk of bruising. Dr Edwin makes 3 to 4 injection points in each Masseter using tiny needles to inject the Neurotoxin. Dr Edwin belives this allows the Neurotoxin to be distributed evenly, further enhancing results. Discomfort is minimal and will feel like small ant-bites.
The treatment is quick and requires less than 10 minutes. Jaw slimming will gradually occur over 2 to 4 weeks with optimal results seen at 1 month.
Results typically last between 4 to 6 months. There will be a complimentary review 1 month after the procedure with Dr Edwin to assess the improvement.
Jaw Neurotoxin Treatment is very safe and delivers excellent results when done by an experienced doctor.
Possible side effects include:
- Weakness of the smile muscle (Neurotoxin has affected the Risorious muscle with injections placed too far front)
- Hollow Cheeks (When Neurotoxin injections are placed too high up)
Post Procedure Care
It is a quick procedure with minimal downtime. Patients can resume their daily activities immediately after the treatment. Occasionally, there may be small bruises or needle marks after the treatment. The intensive recovery cream can be applied to speed up the recovery.
What are Chin Fillers?
Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that is injected beneath the skin. Majority of fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring substance found in the body.
It has many benefits including facial augmentation, reducing facial lines and improving the volume and fullness of the face.
Dr Edwin believes that Patients with a recessed chin (chin lacking in volume or projection) can benefit from a chin filler by increasing chin projection and length, achieving a fuller, more defined facial profile.

Before beginning, Dr Edwin will discuss with you the ideal chin shape for your facial structure. By placing fillers at key injection points, the chin can achieve both forward and downwards projection, giving the appearance of a fuller, sharper jawline and chin.
Prior to each injection, a cold icepack will be applied to the skin to reduce discomfort and bruising. Results can be seen immediately after the treatment. On rare occasions, there may be slight bruising and swelling. Dr Edwin recommends using the intensive recovery cream to hasten recovery.
Treatment duration is between 15 to 30 minutes.
How long do fillers last?
HA dermal fillers often last between 9 and 18 months. Longevity varies between brand and degree of HA cross linkage in the filler.
Dr Edwin prefers to use Lyft or Juvederm Voluma for the chin because it gives excellent projection with minimal swelling and broadening.
What are the potential side effects?
There may be some bruising and swelling immediately after the procedure. Such side effects should subside within 3 to 5 days. The intensive recovery cream can be applied to speed up the recovery.
