Dermal Fillers for Facial Contouring

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance injected beneath the skin. Majority of fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occuring substance in the body.

They are commonly used to augment and contour facial features by precisely adding volume to the area of interest.

Popular areas treated with Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Forehead: Forehead augmentation is beneficial for those with deep static wrinkles or frontal curvature deficiency. HA fillers can help to restore the natural contour of the forehead.

Temples: Loss of fat at the temples is a tell-tale sign of an aging face. HA fillers can restore the volume loss in this area.

Cheeks: HA fillers can add definition and volume to the cheeks by enhancing the cheekbone and creating fuller cheeks. At the same time, cheek fillers exert a lifting effect on the midface to improve the appearance of sagging skin and jowling.

Tear Trough: Fillers can help to mask the appearance of the tear trough (undereye hollows), reducing the severity of eyebags and lightening dark eye circles.

Chin: Many Asians have short and receded chins. HA fillers are able to give a sharper, more defined chin to enhance the overall face shape.

Nose: Sharp and prominent nose bridges are popular with Asians and can be easily achieved with filler augmentation. However, there is the potential risk of serious side effects if not done by an experienced practitioner.

Anti-Aging with Dermal Fillers

Besides augmenting and contouring face shape, Dr Edwin uses facial fillers to treat the following signs of aging

  • Filling in lines and creases
  • Filling out thin or wrinkled lips
  • Volumizing of Cheeks
  • Lifting of the midface
  • Improving appearance of Nasolabial folds and Jowls

Have you heard of the “Liquid Facelift”?

In the skin, there exists true retaining ligaments which suspend the skin by attaching it to the bone. Imagine these true retaining ligaments as the suspension cables of a suspension bridge. If the cables become lax with time, the bridge begins to descend. Similarly, the skin sags over time due to stretching and laxity of these retaining ligaments

Dr Edwin's Liquid Facelift technique involves placing fillers at the base of several key retaining ligaments in the face to achieve an immediate, natural, non surgical facelift by tensing and tightening these true retaining ligaments.

Treatment Experience

Prior to treatment, Dr Edwin will discuss with you the type and volume of filler required to achieve your desired results. For example, Teosyal RD2 for undereyes, Lyft for nose and chin, Juvederm Voluma for cheeks etc. Dr Edwin believes in using the most ideal filler from different brands to achieve the best results.

Prior to each injection, a cold icepack will be applied to the skin to reduce discomfort and bruising. Results can be seen immediately after the treatment. On rare occasions, there may be slight bruising and swelling. We recommend using the intensive recovery cream to hasten recovery.

Treatment duration is between 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of treated areas.
