Dr Edwin believes that fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing is the gold standard for treating deep acne scars in Singapore.
Acne scars are formed when there is loss of tissue and collagen from inflammation due to acne.
As such, the key aim of Acne Scar treatment is to use laser energy to stimulate collagen production to restore it's loss.
The eCO2 laser uses Controlled Chaos Technology (CCT™), an advanced system which increases safety, reduces discomfort and accelerates healing time.
During the treatment, precise, micro-ablative Columns (MACs) are created. This tiny areas of "controlled damage" stimulates the body's natural healing process and increases production of new collagen and renewal of skin cells.
Depending on severity of scars, a strong numbing cream will be applied for between 20 to 30 minutes.
Each laser session is split into 2 parts. During the first part, Dr Edwin will use a high powered setting to target each individual acne scar. For the second part, a lower power is used for the rest of the face to improve skin texture and for skin rejuvenation.
After laser, the face will be red and tiny scabs will be observed where the Micro Ablative Columns were created.
Downtime is approximately 7 days. Treatments should be done once a month.
Don't lose hope if the Fractional CO2 Laser treatment in Singapore doesn’t give you immediate results. Sometimes, multiple treatments are needed before good results can be attained.
Dr Edwin recommends patients to prepare the skin 2 weeks before laser with a specially formulated Vitamin C serum and Anti-pigmentation cream. Post-laser, an Intensive Recovery Cream is recommended to speed up recovery.
