How does the Pro-Yellow laser work?

Acne Laser Doctor

The Quadrostar Pro-Yellow Laser is engineered in Germany.

It is a more advanced and improved version of the commonly used Dual-Yellow laser.

Using a special wavelength of 577nm, the Pro-Yellow Acne Laser is able to effectively kill P. acne bacteria and shrink sebum-producing sebaceous glands.

This acne laser also promotes collagen growth and reduces small red blood vessels (facial capillaries). This has an overall tightening, firming and rejuvenating effect on skin.

Can laser treatments for face also reduce Red Acne Marks?

The Pro-Yellow acne laser is also very effective in reducing post acne red marks (Post Inflammatory Erythema).

These red marks are formed due to damaged and dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin after inflammation from moderate to severe acne. In some cases, these marks may persist long even after the active acne heals.

Compared to the standard green wavelength (532nm), the Pro- Yellow 577nm wavelength is able to produce 40% higher absorption in blood. This translates to less required power, lesser discomfort, increased safety and increased efficacy during treatment of red coloured lesions.

Laser Treatment for Face Experience

Acne Laser Treatment

Most patients will experience warmth on their skin during the procedure.

Dr Edwin's technique is to first laser the entire face with 2 to 3 passes to kill acne bacteria and shrink sebaceous glands.

Next, he uses a different setting to focus on active acne and red blemishes. Small ant bites/pinpricks may be experienced during this part of the treatment.

Laser treatments for face may seem scary, but in general they are quite bearable.

The cold air blower will be used concurrently to reduce discomfort and skin redness. In fact, most of the time, patients will only feel the cold air.

Treatment duration is approximately 15 minutes and after the first session, reduction in the redness of acne may be noticeable. More obvious and significant results are usually seen after 5 to 10 sessions.

There is ZERO downtime and skin redness lasts at most 4 to 6 hours. Recommended treatment interval for active acne is once every 2 to 4 weeks.

How often should Acne Laser be done?

Acne laser should be done once every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity of acne.

What are the side effects of Acne Laser?

There may be slight facial redness after the Acne Laser. This redness usually lasts for a few hours and should not persist overnight.

Dr Edwin recommends applying the intensive recovery cream to speed up the resolution of the redness.

What is the difference between Acne Laser and Acne Scar Laser?

The Pro Yellow Acne Laser is ideal in treating active acne such as cystic acne as well as the red marks (post inflammatory erythema) left behind after acne recovers.

For depressed acne scars such as icepick scars, boxcar scars or rolling scars, treatments such as CO2 Fractional Laser, Rejuran Scar or Subcision is required.
